The Nigerian Air Force has been displaying its new prized capabilities in the fight against insurgency in the northeast and militancy in the oil rich Niger-Delta.
During an event to mark the 53rd anniversary of the country’s air force, the West African nation showed off its fighter jets and new Mi 35M helicopter.
Speaking at the event, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonishakin, the Nigerian Armed Forces Chief of Defence Staff, said Nigeria could “now boast of an air force that can deliver appropriate firepower at the right time and at the right place”.
The US is poised to sell further military aircraft to Nigeria to aid the nation in its battle against Boko Haram militants.
